Steady Improvement in National Tidy Towns Awards Results

Scores go up in every category with encouraging feedback from adjudicators.

On Friday 6th October, the results of the National Tidy Towns Awards were announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD. Abbeyleix in Co. Laois was named Ireland's Tidiest Town of the 887 towns competing, and Overall Winner of Ireland's Tidiest Small Town. Other category winners included Geashill, Co. Offaly, Killarney, Co. Kerry and Ballincollig, Co. Cork.

Phibsboro' Village Tidy Towns is delighted to note that our scores have increased in all categories of the competition, as can be seen in the attached adjudicators' report. This was achieved thanks to the ongoing efforts of the committee and volunteers. We would also like to acknowledge the support of Dublin City Council, local businesses and community groups. In addition, Community Foundation Ireland provided financial support for projects such as the implementation of the Energy Master Plan and the Biodiversity Action Plan.

All of our projects were measured against the Global Sustainable Goals, which was acknowledged by the judges when assessing our entry. However, the adjudicators did note that work remains to be done tackling areas such as littering, graffiti and dereliction affecting our streetscapes.

We look forward to the challenge of improving our scores even further in 2024 and new volunteers are always welcome to join us. Enquiries to our Clean Up Crew, Biodiversity Group and Sustainability Group are welcome via email or social media:
